Daylight Saving Clocks
Thursday, April 30th, 2009Tilt one way for summer time, tilt the other way for winter time. Brilliant! Designer Denis Guidone is the man behind the clocks, and apparently they are due to go into production.

This is a slightly weird but quite funny concept – remix the news using music, and in particular the Auto-Tune. I think the first video above is the better of the two, but the second one is worth watching just for the bit with Katie Couric singing which starts at 1 minute 22 seconds in.

I don’t know if she’s doing a good job at home but by sacking the bank executives in the bank that the French government bailed out, I think I can safely say I’d prefer to have Christine Lagarde as our Minister for Finance rather than our own Brian Lenihan. As you can see above, she can hold her own with Jon Stewart, something I’d like to see any Irish politician do!
The Annie Mac Presents tour rolls into Dublin on Thursday with a really good line-up of acts. The gig takes place in the Twisted Pepper, and joining Annie on the night are Sinden, Kormac (Live), Arveene, and Shortie. The Facebook event page for the gig is currently showing 321 people planning on attending, so it’s going to be a sell out night for sure. You can buy tickets in advance from Bodytonic tickets section of Tickets.ie.
A quick heads up on Arveene’s current production action with Misk. I got his new tracks Hells Bells and Blow Your Whistle a little while ago, and they’re both really working well on the dancefloor. Here’s a video clip of Hells Bells:
You should also grab the Arveene and Misk edit of Mr Oizo’s Gay Dentist from zShare, all with Arv’s blessing.

This is episode 3 of Charlie Brooker’s new Newswipe show, the spin-off from Screenwipe. It’s like a cross between the history of Television news and the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Entertaining and informative? Who’da thunk it?
I’ll post the first two episode here also once I put them into playlists. Special thanks to xthemusic on YouTube for capturing and posting the videos.
For those of you into such things, you can also follow Charlie Brooker on Twitter.
[Apologies for the video being too big for the page - bloody HD broadcasts!]
Valerie Francis – Punches from Eoghan Kidney on Vimeo.
Just a quick shout out to Eoghan and Valerie. The video and the song are really cool. You don’t need to be a Gay Fish to work that out!

Posters and flyers are a dying art in Dublin thanks to the particularly harsh litter fines in the city, so it was great to see my name on a cool poster for my recent gig in Derry. The guys at La Musique put a bit of effort into their artwork, and you can check out more of their posters and flyers on the La Musique Myspace pictures page.
So obviously I wrote more about RTÉ and Mr. Cowen than anything else lately. I think I should go back to talking about music and gigs for a bit.
